The Nevada Preservation Foundation invites you to our 2nd annual Vintage Vegas Home Tour! Once again, NPF will be hosting an afternoon of open houses through historic homes. Join us, Sunday May 8th from 12pm – 5pm as we take notice of the magnificent mid-century housing that is such a vibrant part of Las Vegas history!
This year’s event will kick off at the beautiful Smith Center, who will open their doors to our participants from 12pm – 1pm. The kick off begins with check-in, where Home Tour ticket holders will receive their maps and information guides for the afternoon home tour. If tickets are still available, last minute registration will also be provided during this time. However, ticket sales are limited to 250 participants.
In addition, Pam Kueber of RetroRenovation, a nationally known blog and resource guide for “loving the house you’re in” will give a short, 30 minute presentation on retro home renovation and all that comes along with it.
After the kick off event, the open houses of featured historic homes will open their doors at 1pm. Our aim in this year’s Home Tour is to highlight the diversity of mid-century homes that exist in our community. These homes range from Mid-Century Modest to Mid-Century Magnificent, from a 1940s bungalow to 1960s desert modern. Our goal is to include homes whose exteriors are mostly original, but with a variety of interiors. We encourage you to take a look at homes across all of these classes. You never know what ideas you might find for your house! We are in the process of finalizing the homes that will be included in our inaugural Home Tour. If there is one that you think MUST be on the tour, do drop us a line!
When you arrive at a Home Tour 2016 house, there will be a docent on hand to answer questions about the home and provide you with information. You will need to show proof that you purchased a ticket, which will be provided in your check-in packet. The Home Tour 2016guide will include a map where the houses are located and each will have a yard sign in the front yard marking it as an NPF Home Tour house. The homes on the tour will be open for visitation from 1pm to 5pm, and there will be a limit of twenty attendees at a time inside a home.
Martini Tour, Jackie Gaughan’s El Cortez Apartment
For an additional fee participants can also purchase a Martini Tour ticket which allows a small group an exclusive look inside the El Cortez apartment home of Jackie Gaughan, the previous owner of the El Cortez and Las Vegas casino magnate. This additional VIP tour experience is limited to 25 ,who will enjoy a small reception and tour through this never seen before home. The Martini Tour will take place at 5pm and will last approximately one hour. You will receive a commemorative martini glass and your choice of a martini or non-alcoholic beverage to sip on during the tour. Tickets are available now and selling out fast!
The Nevada Preservation Foundation would like to thank The Smith Center, the El Cortez, the LVCVA, and Pam Kueber for their support of NPF’s Vintage Vegas Home Tour 2016.
