Since the creation of our organization, one of Nevada Preservation Foundation’s goals has been to engage with our community members through events and volunteer opportunities. Volunteering provides our members with a chance to give input and experience preservation in action. It also helps to strengthen community relationships and meet other like-minded individuals here in Las Vegas.
Thank You Home Tour Volunteers!
The Home Tour could not have been a success without the help of our many, wonderful volunteers, who donated their time in helping homeowners manage traffic and questions during the tour. Much of the feedback NPF received from the Home Tour participants was on how great the volunteers were and how much they helped add to the event. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped make the Home Tour a success!
Volunteering is Always in Fashion
At Macy’s, volunteering is always in fashion! NPF’s volunteer coordinators, Patrick Coleman and Christinne Shackelford, are also the volunteer coordinators for Macy’s employee volunteer program, Partners in Time, at the Fashion Show location. Since the program’s inception, Macy’s volunteers across the country have given more than 2 million hours of community service. For the Home Tour alone, Macy’s volunteers gave over 95 hours of combined time. Fifteen plus volunteers for the Home Tour were from Macy’s, logging time for their Partners in Time employee program and giving back our local community.
Over the past six months, Macy’s volunteers have participated in many events benefiting the community through volunteer hours, charitable contributions and community service. A few of the other activities supported by Macy’s Partner in Time program are: the Las Vegas Three-Square Food Bank, in which Macy’s helped to raise over $6,000 for their Bag the Hunger Campaign.
Patrick and Christine also formed a relay team for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at the Smith Center and took a group of ten volunteers to read to local, Las Vegas school kids as part of NV Literacy Week. Currently, Macy’s is raising money from in-store customer donations for military families by supporting Got You Six charity which gives support to families of soldiers. So far in 2015, our local Macy’s employees have given over 300 hours in volunteer time and community service as well as raised over $10,000 in contributions to various local charities. Way to go Macy’s!
