TOUR GUIDES WANTED!

NPF is actively recruiting for tour guides to lead small groups on our existing walking tour of historic Berkeley Square. Tour topics include: Civil Rights history in Las Vegas, and architectural walking tour of Berkeley Square residential neighborhood.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and deliver Berkeley Square Neighborhood Walking Tour Content
  • Commit to leading the tour at least twice

TIME COMMITMENT:

Volunteer should be prepared to:

  • Study provided NPF tour notes
  • Optional independent study to enhance/personalize your tour
  • 1-2 mornings for rehearsal prior to event date
  • 2 Tours: Select Saturdays January/February

TOUR DURATION:

Finished tour program is about an hour to 90 minutes, including check in and final questions. The tour route is roughly one mile of flat, paved terrain.

GROUP SIZE:

Group sizes will be limited to roughly 10 participants.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Previous guiding or public speaking skills preferred
  • Interest in Las Vegas history, especially Civil Rights and midcentury residential architecture
  • Comfortable walking for a mile outdoors during January/February
  • Tour is entirely outdoors, however guides and participants must wear masks!
  • Comfortable speaking in noisy environments. Neighborhood noise may include:
    • High traffic area
    • Barking Dogs

TOTAL NUMBER OF GUIDES POSITIONS TO BE FILLED:

  • 2-3 Tour guides

OTHER STAFF/ VOLUNTEER SUPPORT:

  • Tour guides will have the support of NPF Staff for practicing the tour route
  • Tour guides will have a staff or volunteer check in helper. Tour guide will not be responsible for check in procedures.
